Episode #017: Creating a Movement With Your Company with BE Alink
The Time is Now!
“Everything is broken, what a great time to be alive!”* The re-frame of this current moment in time is just one of the compelling conversations I had with BE Alink, the founder and inventor of The Alinker a non-motorized walking-bike without pedals. With an adjustable saddle and handlebars, it is custom designed to challenge society’s assumptions about disability. Challenging assumptions and shifting paradigms is an everyday thing for BE, and necessary if you are going to build a movement with your business. Listen in to hear why BE thinks today is the perfect day to start.

RESOURCES
OUR GUEST
BE Alink is a gender weirdo (has no segment or language that resonates) and has often been called crazy, all over the place, scattered. People told her to focus, and to comply, but BE does not fit in, just held true to her vision that the world needs something else, for and by us all, no one excluded. BE focuses on who we are, not what we have.
With insane tenacity, commitment and dedication, BE has built her company into a movement of people showing up for each other. Years ago she said: “I dream of a world where the dismissed people of today, are our leaders of tomorrow”, that is happening now.
BE only employs Alinker users (otherwise unemployed), pays everybody living wage (including herself), The Alinker has certified BCorp status, she is a SheEO venture, is more than carbon neutral, and practically plastic free.
To promote a healthy life with moving, access to food and community, the Alinker is building the Alinker Farm in Kentucky, incorporated Alinker Family LLC.
BE’s reverse design practices / philosophy lead to the invention of the Alinker walking bike (not build for a “body-with-a-problem” but for who we are, active and engaged).
